Makeup Pretty Face

Pretty pastel colors are combined for a soft yet striking look that is perfect for midsummer makeup. The really good news about pastels is that they are much easier to apply than the stronger, more definite eyeshadow colors, such as brown or charcoal. Here, the lilacs and blues used around the eyes are beautifully balanced by soft pink lips and a light dusting of pink blusher on the apples of the cheeks. Eyebrows are neatly arched to help open up the eye area and so show off the delicate pastel shades even more.

♦    If you are afraid of looking too “doll-like,”you can harden the pastel shades by changing the lip color from the soft pink to a strong, dramatic red.

*    It is important to soften the eyeliner for this look by blushing over with an eyeshadow as close to the lash line as possible.

♦    Use a nail polish in a corresponding pastel shade.

♦    Choose no-fuss, no-frills clothes in colors that will increase the impact of the pastel makeup.

♦    Styling hair away from the face – in a high, spiky ponytail, for example – also helps to strengthen the effect.

1 Moisturize and apply a liquid foundation that closely matches your skin color. Dust with a translucent powder.

2    Brush eyebrows into shape and then emphasize their natural arch with a dark brown eyebrow pencil.

3    Apply a beige eyeshadow all over the eye area and then use a blue eyeshadow on the eyelid, blending up to the brow. Brush on a lilac shadow from the center of the lid to the outer corner, blending well. Highlight the brow with a pearly lilac shadow.

4 Line the top lash line with a navy eye pencil. Brush over with a blue-gray shadow to soften and continue under the bottom lash line.

5 Curl the lashes if necessary. Coat top and bottom lashes with black mascara.

6 Dust the apples of the checks very lightly with a pink blusher.

7 Outline the lips with a pink lip liner and apply a pink lip color.
